Who else is taking the DAT in Jan 2014? :)

I am! Has anyone figure out exactly when they will change the biology section, in the beginning of 2014?

Me and you both!!! (#Nailbiting) I'm actually scheduled to take the exam the 30th of December, I've been studying since early nov. And hardcore studying since December... With the test only two weeks away I'm debating on whether I should push it back a week or two bc I've made like thousands of note cards and fell if I get a chance to go through and know them well I'm confident I will do well on my test! Right now I'm only scoring avg 18-20 on all my practice sections so I'm stressing

I was also scheduled to take the exam on 12/30, but I just pushed it back to Jan 13th yesterday...

Same reason. I wanted to take the exam before Jan 2014, but I was getting low scores on my practice exams. I thought it would be better to have few more weeks to do some more practices.

Guys don't worry too much about your test averages! People tend to score HIGHER on the real thing since practice test tend to be harsher with the scoring. Keep your chins up!

Yes I use destroyer for biology, chemistry, and organic (it is brutal... Like everyone said the first time I went through it I thought I was going to cry! But I've made note cards for all the questions I didn't know (basically 85% if the questions from that book reviewed then everyday.. Now I'm in my second round of the destroy and I've improved a lot! Also I tend to forget info easily esp for biology so going though notecards and details notes everyday has helped so much in that section ; I also have destroyer math! Ugh this is like my worst section! And I get so mad at the solutions provided bc they make it seem so simple to approach each problems and but when I try it the second time I still don't get it! Ugh!

I am taking it hopefully mid Jan. I haven't scheduled the exam yet I'm too scared it will give me anxiety.
Anyone know what they are changing in the bio section ?
I also though destroyer was hard but I like it better after chad's.

Read the very last couple of sentences from this news letter I found http://www.ada.org/sections/educationAndCareers/pdfs/dat_news_2013.pdf let me know what you guys think.. I know the last sentence is referring to changes that will be made for the practice tests that will be available at prometric. I'm hoping that this could possibly be a hint to exactly when biology will change too! Eek! I hope! I know the changing of the biology is not gonna make a difference in my studying bc either way I have to study hard to take this test in jan. But it would sure just calm my lil soul to knowing that my test section for biol is dif when I go take the test. Okay back to studying.. Let me know what you guys think!

They didn't say when the changes would be implemented, just 2014... and that they would let us know more information soon. I'm not sure but it seems like they don't have an exact time frame (like they do for quantitative reasoning) so maybe it won't be until a few months!

destroyer is just frustrating but I have math dest too, and I feel you there lol. I actually started a different thread on math destroyer because I have trouble with probability problems and someone suggested khan academy and it is free! I just glanced at it, but it seemed helpful 🙂

I think the gchem part is the hardest 🙁

yes! I'm taking mine mid Jan! You should do whatever you feel most comfortable with!!! My friend was getting averages on her practice tests too but she aced the actual DAT! So either way, I'm sure you will do great!

How long have you been studying for Gchem? It was hard for me as we'll at first only bc I was trying to remember the solution and then try to solve it the next time. Finally instead of trying to remember the steps in destroyer solution, I really try to tackle each questions with Everything I know from chad and that has help out a lot! Example at first I was struggling with trying to find the ph for weak acids and base. But just knowing chads simple equation for it it was so much easier to solve then using hendersen-hasslebalch methods from the destroyer solution. also took really detail notes on note cards when I was watching chad, and reviewed my notes this way. It saved me a lot of time and I tended to review better because I hate rereading notes

Also try all of chads quizzes first for this chem section and review your answers thoroughly with his explanations before going back to destroyer. You got it! Hang in there!

Ugh not yet! Right now I'm scheduled for Dec. 30 I'm gonna wait toll like the 26 to decide.. Bc 4days before I think I should know if I'm ready or not. Don't you think?

I just read the article...do you guys think the bio will be harder? All my upper biology classes have been micro and anatomy lol but i like ecology a lot its easier to understand. ...

I wish the math were changing this year instead 😛

I think it will be harder because we have no example questions! I really don't think they will change it in jan! They would have let us know by now!

Hey guys, could any of you tell me where I can find the test dates for 2014? I looked everywhere but I can't seem to find them on the ADA site but my advisor told me that they are there.

You have to apply to take the test first. Then you will get a confirmation #! Go to www.pometric.com and fill in info and along with confirmation # given to you from ADA.. Then you're able to look at test dates!
