so because I have gotten some interviews that I didnt expect, havent heard from programs I thought I would, and didn't get my preferred date for some interviews...my interview schedule is so bad and I have to fly west on three separate occasions and the south two times.

can someone make me feel better and tell me that they too have totally screwed themselves over. Im going to be exhausted by the end of it and my two last interviews are ones I am really excited about. EEEK!!!

Hey dont worry - I'm flying to Philly, Boston and the South twice this season, just because of the different interview schedules. But yeah, flying west thrice is brutal (depends on how you take it though 😉

If you really want to ace your last two interviews and are feeling burnt out, take a break for a few days. You may also feel like canceling a few interviews in the same area if you feel you have enough to match into a good program, just to get more time to recharge (e.g. go only to Cornell and Columbia in NYC over 5 days rather than going to 4 programs in 5 days; or go to 4 programs over 7-8 days - just an example). It seems to help.

Anyone manage to pull the dreaded 5 interviews over 5 consecutive days? THAT'D be impressive.

I have 4 consecutive ones coming up. Houston i guess that's less than 5 but still,i have 5 (awaiting a potential 6th) within a week span.

I think i's rather do that than spend extra on flight or hotel.... i will pretend its another 6 day work week of medicine......

Good luck OP. It will all be worth it when u get ur shiny envelop in march.....

i did 4 over 4 consecutive days last week...will never do that again. (i also had 5 within a week span...friday to friday = one week, haha)

Genuine question - do you think 3 back to back can be handled - or is that too strenous as well?

RMD, I think so...I don't think it'll be too bad as long as they're within 2-5hr drives. I did 3 on one week M/W/F, not back to back tho...

thanks guys! i feel better knowing I'm not the only one. I wont complain too much though, we should be happy that we have interviews right!?

ResidentMD, you're a baller, so you can handle anything. ;-) but seriously, 3 back to back is doable in the same city...to travel, however, might make it tight. but it's doable.

As a fellowship candidate, I had a 3 interview week that went like this: Monday - NYC, Tuesday - Chicago, Thursday - NYC again. Spent a couple of days chillin' in NYC before flying back to be on call in the ICU on Sunday. It was do-able. But it sucked and was expensive.

Thanks G&B 😉. Yeah, I will be traveling. Two of the interviews are 1 hour apart, but then the third one involves a flight; luckily the third place doesnt have a pre-interview dinner.

I have 5 (Monday-Friday) scheduled in the Bay Area one week and another week in January with 5 scheduled in SoCal. Maybe I should rethink some of those. :scared:

I've also flown out west these past two weekends and am going again this weekend, though I'll be there for several weeks this time.

What is the farthest / most time spent traveling between back to back interviews?

Mine so far will be Vermont to Detroit.

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Portland, Oregon. Thank God for saving 3 hours heading out west.
