Who is applying next month and where are you applying?

I'm applying to UTHSCSA in San Antonio, Texas. I still haven't taken the DAT or finished all of my prereqs so I've got a lot of work to do in the next 8 months.

It's my clear #1 choice so I'm only going to apply there this time around. If I don't get in, then I'll spend next spring and early next summer concentrating on increasing my DAT score and I'll apply at more schools next year.

I'm applying everywhere! I'm an Arkansas resident and we don't have a state dental school, but we do have "slots" in surrounding states. Each surrounding state has maybe two slots for AR kids (TN is the exception with 14 slots I think). I counted the total number of slots for AR students (although not guarenteed) and it amounts to around 30 (which really sucks). Even the smallest state schools have around 50 slots at least! I'm also going to apply to a bunch of private schools. I have a favorite in mind for now, but I think that in the end my favorite is going to become which ever school (or schools) wants me! 🙂

Hi there...I'm new here on SDN & also new in Canada and living in Toronto,i have done high school from my back home 'Pakistan'.Well i'm thinking to apply in "Gorge Borwn The Toronto City College"for Dental Hygiene 2-years diploma programm next spring.They will take Admission Test(I think this test is also called as 'DAT') for this programm,so is there anybody who study in Gorge Brown or anybody who knows anything about this college & anything about Admision test 😕 ??Plz tell me from where i can do best perparation for test??Plz let me know as soon as u can

My state school is my first choice (UMKC). The environment is top-notch and their curriculum design is amazing. Other schools include private institutions throughout the Midwest. I decided to also apply to UNLV. I recently researched their program and I am definately interested in their school.

Thank you thank you 🙂 I'm very interested in U Penn (especially the Dean's Merit Scholarship if the odds are with me), but maybe Harvard or Michigan. I worked hard and I guess it's paying off now. By the way, Buffalo is an excellent school. I have a friend my year who got accepted through an early admission program and I've only heard excellent things.

Man, I cant believe you didnt hear anything from NYU or BU, specially with those numbers. Thats crazy. I guess you are living proof that applying late hurts your chances. Good luck next cycle, I have no doubt it will be better the next time around.

UMKC is a great school. I had a choice of several, but I think that it clearly stood out (That why I'm going there 😉 ). Best of luck! 🙂

Jaws, congrats on your acceptance to UMKC. It is definately a fine place to learn dentistry. If you do not mind me asking, what were your stats? I have a strong academic background and I have done a lot outside of the classroom, but I want to continue to hear what others have done to get accepted to d-school. Especially UMKC!! I hear that community service is a big factor at KC. I started early and have since completed 300+ hours. From day one, UMKC has been my dream school. Hopefully it will work out for the best!! Good luck with class and enjoy the summer; it is definately a summer well deserved after getting accepted to dental school!!!

I'm applying next month! Ahh I can't believe May is almost here! Although I should worry about my app and essay AND DAT, first I have to worry about my genetics and organic chemistry exam that are tomorrow!

What's up everybody, I was hoping for some feedback.

I'm applying to: Tufts, BU, UCONN, Temple, UPenn, UMaryland, UMichigan, Columbia, UoP, UCSF, Case Western.

Major: Bioengineering
cum GPA is 3.51
sci GPA is 3.53
Pretty standard extracurriculars and 50+ hours shadowing

I'm taking the DAT mid-June after 6 solid weeks of studying/practice tests with Kaplan and Barrons books.

I'm applying as early as humanly possible, with my top choice being Tufts (I'm from Boston, and want to be there for d-school).

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

My stats are a 3.9 GPA, probably a 3.8 or mid 3.8 after this semester, good shadowing experience, licensed skydiver (I'm sure this won't hurt)....just haven't taken the DAT yet, but am scheduled for May 13th. You?
