I was just wondering, how many people on here are applying to MSW programs for fall 2011? Are you thinking about a clinical or macro approach? Is there a concentration that you are interested in and what schools are you thinking of applying to?

Myself, I am undecided between clinical and macro. I am leaning towards clinical, but I would like to attend a program that combines both approaches. I am also interested in gerontology and medical social work. I have a list of about ten schools that I’m working on narrowing down to about five or so. If anyone has any suggestions for my criteria, please share – just wanted to get a conversation going on here for MSW applicants.

Nice to meet a fellow 2011 applicant!

I'd like to do a clinical concentration and I'm interested in individual/couples therapy, sexual health and research. I live in Philadelphia, so I'm considering schools somewhat nearby: UPenn, Bryn Mawr, Rutgers, Fordham and Widener's dual MSW/M.Ed in Human Sexuality is also a strong contender.

What schools are on your list?

So far, I am considering Cal, SFSU (backup), Washington University, University of Washington, SUNY - Albany, BC, BU, Virginia Commonwealth, University of Michigan, and University of Maryland. It's really going to be dependent on the type of aid I am offered - if I even get in. I don't want to spend $50,000 per year on tuition and housing, so I am trying to look at schools of interest that are likely to offer more aid to their students or I'll stay in California.

I have heard that schools such as Columbia, University of Chicago, and University of Wisconsin don't offer much aid at all. Does anyone know if this is true or have leads on schools that do for their MSW program?
