I was just wondering when people have been waitlisted are going to call umich next week?

You can find out what tier of the waitlist you are on.

I was planning on calling on Wednesday, since the website said "after April 1st" and I guess I just don't want to push my luck. 😉

But if anyone calls earlier and gets some info, pleeeeeaaaaase post it. 🙂

I just called....I'm in the top tier! And since I have NOOOO acceptances anywhere yet, I'm really crossing my fingers.

I tried to ask the size of the tiers but the lady didn't know. She just said about 300 ppl are on the waitlist. Good luck to everyone else.

How does the placment on the tiers correlate with when you interviewed? Also, do they just start pulling people from the top tier and then work their way down or is it more abstract and random?

called them up, and I'm apparently in the so-called top tier. The lady then told me that a lot of, if not the most of, the folks in the top tier would eventually get accepted. So i guess this is not too bad.

When I called, she said they break the waitlist into thirds. So, I assume that means three tiers with about equal numbers of people in each.

I just wanted to jump in with a bit of information that might be of use to you guys. I was on the umich waitlist last year so I know a bit about how it works. First of all, it's broken into three tiers, as you know. I am almost positive that it is NOT broken into equal thirds. I was in the middle tier last year and I got in over the summer. Also, the way they seem to take people off the waitlist is that if an in-state female acceptee chooses NOT to accept her place at michigan, they will pull another in-state female from the waitlist.

The good news is that there tends to be quite a bit of waitlist movement. I'm not sure what percent of my class came in off the waitlist but I heard that something like 40% of the M2 class came in from the waitlist.

Hang in there! And if you REALLY want to go to Michigan, make sure they know that.
