I think this is a cool & necessary stat to add:

Add up the GPA (multiply it by 10) & DAT score to get avg points for each dental school.

I'm kinda new to this pre-dent thing, so im not sure if dental schools go by a points system. please let me know otherwise. thanks!

that means a 3.5 gpa, 20 dat = 4.0, 15 dat. i doubt that works.

Nah, the calculation is like this:

3.5 * 10 = 35

add your DAT score

35 + 20 = 55 points

makes sense?

they actually use it for medical schools...they have a cut off based a points system. for example, 60 points (3.6 gpa & 24 MCAT). I'm not sure dental schools use it though.

(3.5 x 10) + 20 = 55

(4.0 x 10) + 15 = 55

This is flawed since it puts the GPA on a 40 scale and the DAT on a 30 scale. If you want to make them the same you need to divide by 4 and multiply by 30 (or just multiply GPA by 7.5).

So you have 7.5xGPA + DAT.

Unless you all think GPA weighs more than the DAT.

Unless you are just doing it for statistical purposes... this isn't exaclty how alot of schools work. UNLV has an exact calculation buts its based on so many more things, like subscores of DATs, points based on LOEs and interviews. Other schools may not use a standard calculation, but just making your own scale may not be a very accurate depiction

^Thanks Streetwolf & Harjay, that's exactly what I needed to know. I guess you can scratch the suggestion.
