I was hoping we could share some of the mistakes we've made during this application cycle on this thread. Here's my contribution:
Yesterday I received a thin letter in the mail from Medical College of Wisconsin. Based on the dimensions of the envelope, I figured it was a rejection, so I was nervous when opening it. Inside I learned that I wasn't being rejected. Instead, they were withdrawing my application for being incomplete! Dumbstruck, I called up the school and asked the admissions secretary what I was missing in my file. I expected this all to be some misunderstanding or a mistake on their part. Instead she told me that I had never sent in my 2x2 photo or $60 secondary application fee. Stammering, I told her that I would send them if I decided to apply after all, and then hung up. Looking into my folder for MCOW, I confirmed her statement. I had done the online secondary, but never sent in the photo or the fee. Whoops! I guess January is too late to complete my application.
The upside to all this is that I saved $60, but unfortunately, when you don't realize the gain, it's not as rewarding.
