I see people freaking out about DAT scores, i thought it's only used as a filter... does anyone know anything about this? it would be very silly to judge a student purely based on score right?
i mean if you get over 17, you will at least get your app read right?
i would think that your gpa and previous experiences should weigh way more than DAT right?

DAT goes hand in hand with GPA. Some schools weighs DAT a little heavier.. some weighs GPA a little heavier. It's not silly at all..

DAT is also probably used to normalize GPA's for people going to "easier" schools and those going to "harder" schools. No matter what people want to say - some schools are much harder than others and thus getting a 3.5 might be the same as getting a 4.0 from a CC. Plus - if you get a high GPA as a science major then the DAT should be cake with decent studying...

The truth is, varies from school to school. The two most obvious examples would be Columbia which is heavily DAT based vs I believe nebraska which is heavily GPA based.

i think a gpa won't matter too much with a high dat but a high gpa with a low dat will hurt a lot more. lets just say id rather be the guy with a 22 and a 2.8 than a 4.0 and a 16.

The truth is, I am iron man...........

I think DAT means a lot, but just my personal opinion

If you have a good GPA like 3.5 ish and you can't get at least a 17 or 18 then its pretty obvious your grades are pretty inflated. Just retake the DAT and score higher. The higher the freakin' better

DAT are important because they show you how strong your GPA is. For example a student with a 4.0 GPA with a low Dat score, 18 for instance shows how inflated his GPA is. Lets just say Id rather be a 3.3 GPA student with 24 DAT than a 4.0 GPA with an 18 DAT
