why bevel for composite?

a bevel exposes more enamel rods to maximize bond strength and provides an optical illusion by feathering the transition from resin to tooth incrementally.

You are certainly correct. The primary reason for a bevel when doing a Class V or Class 4 restoration with composite is esthetics.
