why bevel for composite?

I can see how it would help for esthetics, and maybe a better seal...any other reasons?
 
a bevel exposes more enamel rods to maximize bond strength and provides an optical illusion by feathering the transition from resin to tooth incrementally.

You are certainly correct. The primary reason for a bevel when doing a Class V or Class 4 restoration with composite is esthetics.
