I was checking the website that busbup posted awhile ago http://dentalstats.tripod.com/03-04.htm.

Many people here say New York and Boston are easier to enter compare to other schools. But why is it so? Even though they require lower GPA, the success rate for Boston is 6% and 17% for New York. These admission rates are pretty similiar when compared to other more competitive school.

I think because they are private schools. State schools reserve spots for in-state applicants which make it more competitive for out-of-staters. They also do not have minimum GPA cutoffs. Which means they are willing to take a closer look at applications that fall below the avg, but may stand out in other ways.

TUITION!!! No one want to pay the high tuition. Given the chance most applicants with out of this world stats will go to schools with lower tuition. This opens the door for students with mid to low stats.

Not only tuition, but COST OF LIVING!!! That will double your amount of debt. Those cities are crazy expensive to live in, although quite an experience I'm sure.

my brother just graduated from there and he said that alot of people dont want to go to a school with...ALOT OF PEOPLE...nyu has the biggest class in the nation. you start off with 250 kids freshman year and then i think its your soph year you gain another 100 students!!! my brother said that he wouldnt want me to go there because of the tuition and how in dept he is but he does agree that you still get a great education. also, next year they are having plastinated cadavers which is cool for anatomy lab.

Thats pretty much how i felt. Too many students and too much tuition.

Plastinated cadavers aint cool. I want to cut up the real thing.
