Why did Downstate send me this brochure but no interview ?

Did anyone else get a brochure from Downstate, but nothing else? 😕

I live in the neighborhood, well my permanent address, so I don't need anymore information - I would like an interview, tho.

Does this brochure mean anything? I was complete with them back in early August, so I guess I'm not on their 'hot' list. I was kind of hoping this was what they sent to their interviewees. only maybe my letter was misplaced? (God, I sound so pathetic ... 🙄 )

I was going to post the same. I was so excited when I got that larger than average envelope, thinking it had to be myinterview invite, but nooooooooo.

I'm in Brooklyn too. I picked up that brochure myself from the admissions office in May. I have been complete since August too. And yes, I shook that envelope to find a letter that wasn't in there.

So I guess all it means is that we are still under consideration. At least it wan't a rejection right? Keep hope alive.

I think they may have just messed up somewhere. I was accepted to downstate already and I got application brochure a couple of days ago. Maybe they are two separate offices and are not really coordinating names with each other...

On a related note, why does Hopkins send you a big envelope with the words "come talk with us" on it, if it's not an interview invite? Instead, it's a viewbook and the non-personalized "Dear Applicant" letter is like, "If you've already sent us your app, disregard this letter..."

Hmmm....why are we in such a rush to go to an interview in East Baltimore or East Flatbush? I know you live in East Flatbush Woolie, but it's not exactly heaven on earth...now if only Stanford would get back to me...

I got the same brochure but got an email for an interview a couple of days before getting it so i would guess you'll be getting that email too.

I think everyone who applied got the brochure. I interviewed on 10/20 and got the brochure this Monday (10/27).

I also interviewed last week and I still haven't received the brochure.

On a related note, did you guys see the two new interview feedbacks on DownState? Geez, someone called it a trash pit.

Personally, I had a pleasant interview and I was quite impressed by the school - Downstate has one of the most intense clinical exposures in the country - they get a few cases of 3rd degree syphillis and even a case or two of malaria per year!

I found my interviewer to be a wonderful woman. I thought she really reflected the ideals of the school: mainly, addressing the needs of the underserved community. I think a lot of good work is done at Downstate... and a lot of big-hearted people work there! 🙂

I got the brochure too and I was excited until I opened it. I received a letter last week though stating that they want to interview me in december and they will email me a date or something like that.

I also got an envelope from Einstein and it was just a stupid invite to an open school event....these schools know how to tease us.

I have my downstate interview on tuesday....the two latest negative posts got me very nervous.

Most of those negative posts have too much tone in common for me to believe that they are real.

I interviewed there and was not insulted or malabused in any of the ways indicated.

I got the info booklet and today I got an interview invite via snail mail.

I actually called Downstate the day after I got the info packet to ask what this meant and their response was "it's for your information, that's all"
