Is that the only reason you choose UMDNJ? Is it not considering a relatively great dental school? I will be applying to UMDNJ so please let me know if anyone has any feedback......😛

i have my interview on aug 13th. I am applying for the 7 year dental program. i would like to know why ppl want to go there and if there is anything thats interesting which u know i wud be glad to hear!!

You definitely save a lot of money by coming to a state school. UMDNJ is a school where anyone can get in-state status from the get go. The 4-year cost of attendance, not including living costs, currently stands at ~$136k.
UMDNJ is also a very clinically strong school, which means you'll get a more than the usual amount of experience in doing procedures in clinic (extraordinary amount of requirements in order to graduate). For this reason, the graduates tend to be very well regarded by residency programs, at least in the Northeast.
We're also fairly close to NYC, and if you don't like Newark (and who doesn't?), you can always commute from surrounding suburbs which are nice.
The new lecture rooms and new clinics are also nice.
And we don't (at least until now) have any problems in getting chairs or patients at the clinic.

Well, the admission process at UMDNJ is pretty standard. The interview process is fairly relaxed, and you just have to convince the interviewer that you really want to come to this school. I think it would also help if you're a NJ resident, although there are many in our class who were out-of-state as applicants.

When you're starting your first year, I'll have about a million and a half advices. Most of them off the record, of course.

Do you remember if UMDNJ requires letters of recommendation from specific professors, such as one from the biology department and one from the chemistry department?

Thanks!
