I was just curious to hear the reasons why people chose to go to Howard University? And the answer "they are the only one's who accepted me" does not count....lol! 🙂

on an unrelated note, why is there so much hate for howard?

Howard is a great school, and like all great schools people believe that it is not great. Harvard experiences a similar level of hate. Only the moderately good schools like university of iowa are really admired by all.

LMAO!! I can't believe you are comparing Howard and Harvard... I hope you are kidding.

Howard doesnt have a great reputation, but it is in Washington D.C., so it scores a couple of points in my book.

Ce n'est pas vraie. It all depends on what you are looking for when it comes to a med school. Personally if you are URM or non-URM and want to serve URMs and want to learn from those URMs who are the best in their field go to HU (I know this personall as a non-arguable matter of fact) if you are URM or non-URM and want to learn from the best non-URMs in the field go to Havard. Thats my take on things. (URM= underrepresented minorities by the way)

Isn't it predominatedly a black school? Therefore I'd think more blacks would choose it. I could be totally wrong but this is my perception.

by the way, its undergrad is mainly african american, but its medical school is quite diverse. I know cause I got alot of friends that go to the medical school. Know your research before saying statements like that. And for your information, the number 1 person in their graduating class this year is going to go into a neurosurgery residency. So how you like that? Stop putting down howard due to it being ran by minorities. We are people too and I am tired of people talking as though "we" dont have any sense. We take the same USMLE's like every medical school and do pretty well. Know the facts

No one has responded to this in 5 years. Know the facts.

Harward does great things for the community and has a great reputation in undeserved neighborhoods. A school's quality should not be based on its average MCAT and undergrad GPA. There, isn't that the kind of diplomatic answer that every SDN member should emulate?

Except the last post in this thread was 5 years ago.

Yeah i was under the belief that howard is a predominately black university... Just like morehouse. I also thought that they mainly pump out PCPs for UR areas
