Why do people always private their profiles?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

I can't view their helpful posts. A thread such as a DAT breakdown, or a guide on a certain subject is very hard to find if it is only mentioned, but not linked, in posts that mention it. It makes it harder when the original poster's profile is private, where you can't view the threads they've created.

Why private your profiles?

avoid being doxxed?

some people just don't feel comfortable with too much transparancy

You can still view their threads.
Ways to do this are by either clicking the number of messages they have under their avatar/picture (this leads to all posts and threads) OR by hovering over "Search" in the upper right corner, typing their name under "Posted by Member:" and checking both "Search this forum only" AND "Display results as threads". Hope this helps 🙂
