Do they want others looking at their junk?
Can't they put it higher on their shirt? It's actually more widespread than anesthesia personnel.
I don't wear ID, i have my card in my pocket
I wear a lanyard, tuck it in my pocket when in the OR, no flopping around.
Doesn't slap patient in the face while putting on ECG leads or get in way when placing epidural catheter.
I converted from being a waist-wearer in residency to chest-level now that I am an attending because I want my patients to be able to see my name when I am talking to them now.
I wore it on my waist during residency because I had an attending that would get on my case about my badge hanging in the patient's face while leaning over putting on monitors. Of course, there was another attending who would get upset if you weren't wearing it at chest height when you worked with her. Good lord I don't miss having to deal with that residency BS anymore.
