Why do we have to wait till december for acceptance?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Because it's a "gentlemen's agreement" among schools to do this.

IMO it gives schools enough time to fully evaluate applicants, but it also sets a "deadline" to decide the initial incoming class. This, compared to rolling admissions, where schools would essentially "compete" to grab the best students as quickly as possible.

I mean, if you're really that bored...

I love the fact we all have to wait! Builds a sense of commendatory and makes it a party!

It doesn't bother me really. Regardless of the various professional school admission protocols, school doesn't start until next fall anyway.

I just dont understand why dentistry is like that, and why all schools have to follow this rule. Why cant schools just let you know as soon as possible is there a specific reason for this?

I rather find out everything on one day, make a better decision and put one or two deposits than be checking my email every other hour for months >.> and possible put multiple deposits.

Wait, you haven't been checking your email every other hour for the past few months?

You're doing pre-dental wrong.

It's October 15 for MD schools, and there's no restriction for DO schools (btw LECOM is notorious for making decisions very shortly after interviews). December 1 is too much IMHO and it makes the process very expensive
What do you mean lecom is notorious for making decisions after the interviews? Do they not wait for december?

Their DO school starts interviewing in July and sending acceptances as early as August.
