Hey guys,
I had my interview at KCUMB this past Monday. The school seems awesome. What I don't understand is that everyone keeps saying its in the ghetto. I just don't get it. The school is gorgeous and the cirriculum is top notch. Right now, its my number one choice!

I didn't think it was in the ghetto either. I think it is probably just because people aren't used to big cities. I'm not and I felt a little uncomfortable but that was mainly because I wasn't sure what to expect. Once we drove around awhile I was more comfortable with the area. But it was still a big change for me. I too was impressed with the school, but I keep kind of going back and forth as far as the city.

Interview went great FS-Pro. I loved my interviewers, we went on for about an hour on the health policies in our society. My interviewer said I should think about doing research with her during my first and second year. I don't know what that means tho!

That sounds positive! I have an interview in November. I've never been to KC but was wondering what was all the ghetto thing about myself. I am from the city and am used to people of lower socioeconomic status, hmmm, wonder if my opinion will be different then as far as the location. We will see.

I think the area is just like any other big city--it has the good and the bad sides. What I thought was scary was that 3 people were shot at the gas station just a block away from the school...that was within two years. The school is great though, and the campus is beautiful!

Happens everywhere man. I witnessed a hold up about five miles from my house and I live in a nice area.

Hey USArmy, where else are you interviewing? If you get accepted @ KCUMB, will you instantly cancel any other interviews you have?

If I get accepted into KCUMB, I will withdraw all DO applications except for DMU, NYCOM, and UNECOM. UNECOM is to gorgeous to cancel to be honest. NYCOM and DMU are just great schools. So far, I still like KCUMB the best. Although it would be hard to pass up Maine, the cirriculum at KCUMB just can't be beaten.

Just out of curiosity, how do they grade students, is pass, no pass, letter grades?

They use a letter grading system and post class rankings twice a year. The students don't seem to mind though that they aren't using a pass/fail system.

I would like pass/fail but whatever now it allows me to compete against myself.
