Why does everyone worship Goljan?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't worship him...I just think he's the best resource for the boards.

People on SDN have helped me out greatly in the past so I'm always inclined to trust some of the opinions that I read here. If all these people think that Goljan's material is the best for reviewing pathology for step 1, including people who have scored very high, I have to seriously consider it.

For me it is the manner in which he teaches, constantly challenging you and asking questions. Also the fact that he pulls from so many subjects and integrates them helps me. Plus, I think it is fun to hear a professor say that some pathologists don't know "DORK about DORK".
You have to respect a man like that.

The man is unreal in person...he can go through an entire pathology course with only single words to guide his lectures (i.e. a slide that says 'vasculitis'). He knows what is and what isn't and he is able to condense some very difficult-to-comprehend material into a more workable form. This is what he does for me, personally, but I dont know what people who just read his notes get...I do know that he is probably one of the three most knowledgeable people in the country when it comes to the USMLE/COMLEX material and style.

hands down the funniest is hearing him talk about his grandkids. and also his whole spiel on Hashimoto's. and also when he makes fun of his students.

we have a pathologist at our school who's really worshipped because of how he puts things together. but goljan is hands down the best medical lecturer i've ever heard. he makes the most annoying minutiae so vivid and relevant.

question--do any of his students on this site know what he's talking about when he says he was 'healed' from his Lou Gehrig's?

Pretty much just that...I think the man is brilliant, but this is sort of ludicrous. He claims to have had all the 'positive' tests for a diagnosis and then spontaneous recovery...ok.

He also says that he believes that the babies that are diagnosed in utero as trisomy-21 who are born normal are just simply 'miracles'. Sort of an explanation for the poor specificity of the test, I suppose.

Nothing personal, but he can get a little weird sometimes. But who can't? Still the greatest educator I have ever had the pleasure to know.

From what I've seen, I would agree. I've recently discovered his 36 pages and they are awesome!
