I don't know if this has been asked recently asked.

I was just wondering why it takes AAMC 30-35 days to mark a multiple choice test...I understand that in previous years they had to mark essays, which can explain some of the delay.

There has to be an explanation for why when everything is computerized it still takes so long :sour::smack:

thanks
Mike

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think GRE, LSAT, etc. take that long to score. Anyone know of any exam that takes longer to score than MCAT?

My best guess at why it take so long is so that they can work out (or at least prepare for) any issues that might have occurred at Prometric locations and/or with the test before scores are released. Along these lines, AAMC is more concerned with the potential of cheating than any other organization I've ever heard of.

It might just be a residual policy from when the exams had essays like you mentioned since current testing is kind of a transition until the 2015 MCAT. I wouldn't be surprised if this changed for the 2015 MCAT and people could get their scores instantly.
