UWorld #1009: Shouldn't this be type 1 diabetes? Since if KATP channel functioning all the time=>decreased insulin secretion? Isn't type 2 diabetes due to increased resistance to insulin vs. not enough secretion?

i think this is due to beta cell exhaustion; at a certain point the beta cells can't keep up with demand since blood glucose is consistently high (thus constantly having the KATP channel constantly functioning), causing amyloid deposition in the islets and beta cell dysfunction.
