Well put Quinn... ditto.

Outside of the ED, where else can you have your hands in a little bit of EVERYTHING? I get to do lots of cool procedures, see a piece of every specialty, and when my patients start to get on my nerves... they either go upstairs to the floor or home to their own beds. Life couldn't get better than that!

Oh, and I despise rounding.

anyone have some interesting and heartfelt reasons for wanting to do em, aside from adrenaline rush!!!

Hot nurses. EM nurses don't sit on their buts all day like many floor nurses do, hence the much more favourable BMI.

That's intentional, like putting uncomfortable chairs in McDonalds. If patients want to leave quickly it means greater volumes and shorter wait times.

Oh. In that case, in answer to your previous question...

yeah, I suspect most of us on this forum have been in an ER once or twice. This is the EM forum, right?

A better question for us might be "but have you guys ever been to a med/surg floor.. man its the worst.. Everytime i go up there I have to get the &*^ out as soon as possible"

You might pick up on the fact that a big reason many of us are attracted to EM is the lack of rounding. Man, I really hate rounding.

Take care,
Jeff

In addition to "favourable BMI"s, I think attendings look absolutely fantastic in scrub tops and khaki pants. Soooo signature.

ew. I don't like this look.

guys look (often) hot in scrubs.

Me? I wear regular clothes.. only when I have overslept do I wear scrubs.

Why EM? Trauma Shears* (spelling correction). These are worn very stylishly tucked into the front or back scrub pants. Its sheer joy to cut someones clothes off with them. They are also handy around the house.

In fact, trauma shears* are probably the one instrument used in the ED that seperates EM docs from all other physicians. Does anyone disagree?

Shears. "Sheer" is like see-through panties. Shears.

But, you're right.

I love the trauma shears! Most of the other interns at my program don't have them yet. Someone needs to explain to them that this is a requirement for Emergency medicine.

I like it cause occasionally paramedics use tape to scure someone and it's fun to rip off an eyebrow
