Well, why did I choose to go to a DO school rather than an MD school? EASY!

First of all, DO school don't require MCAT. That sure saved me a lot of trouble, not to mention a lot of money $$$.

Secondly, DO programs are only 2 years, versus the 4 years program of MD schools. You do the math. Why would I want to spend 4 years to become a physician when all it takes is two?

Do you go to DO school in Europe?

What DO school did you go to? I have never heard of a DO school that did not require the MCAT!?!*! It isn't just that DO school is shorter than MD school, DO school requires most of the same classes in a shorter amount of time, plus two more extra classes that deal with holistic healing. Anyway, congrats on being in DO school and I hope I am a student next year as well.

Is this guy making a joke or could he possibly be serious? DO schools require MCATs and are four years. I can't imagine that someone could be so out of it.

wow, sounds like someone who is having an hypertensive urgency.

It is NOT supposed to be taken seriously.

and no, I don't know who is home or mellow or a premed reject. I don't even need to defend myself 😛

as a matter of fact, a large majority of us already did. unlike yourself, we have researched ost med and understand the underpinnings of this profession. i dont know where you get this 2 year and saving money crap. as far as your hypertensive comment, youre here to be abrasive and insulting. medschool admission comittees do a public sevice when they deny candidates such as yourself.

Me-DO-student,
I am not sure if you are confused about the facts or upset. I hope that either way you work things out. It is my view that people on this site should use their real name.
I graduated from an Osteopathic school myself and have not agreed with every thing and sometimes I have been upset with the profession. I use this site as a way to vent my frustrations but I do it in an honest and open way.
If you have some negitive things to say about Osteopathy than say them. What ever it is you have to say could possibly benifit the profession. I would suggest that you use your real name, this way people will take you more seriously.

Of course I did not want to be taken seriously. Why else would I be using an alias?

And no, I have no frustration agaist the profession.

To be fair this thread is only 9 years and 51 weeks old.

As soon as I heard that you get to feel up on your class mates and call it "practicing your technique" I was sold.

Just wanted to give an honest opinion on here before it was deleted forever.

LOL sick necrobump dude!! Who are these people searching the archives from decades ago. Is the new content simply not stimulating enough??

I'm actually kind of sad for this thread from 2001 though. I feel it deserved more recognition than it got. It's even got a catchy phrase!

I'm going to DO school because of the low standards! Why would I pay attention during undergrad when I can just slide right into a DO school whenever I feel like it???

The necrobumps are probably a side effect of the culture of telling everyone to "search, search search" when they ask FAQs.

True. It's funny because if people really searched before each thread, there would really almost be no point for sdn to exist. This site would just a large archive of threads.

why did the DO cross the road?

Why?!?

And by the way...this is a daunting stressful process...I enjoy a little humor once in awhile..for everyone that thinks it is neccessary to freak out at these jokes...get over yourself and chill out....you can be proud and respectful of your career while still making light of it every now and then

wait... you just seriously bumped a 8 month old thread TO COMMENT ABOUT NECROBUMPING???!!

Actually not that bothered, i found the irony overwhelming though

J-O-K-E guys!

Jeeze, do you take everything so seriously?

Bumping hilarious 10 yr old threads....repeatedly....the epic fail of SDN. How are they finding threads this old???

Since I've gotten into DO schools and my life has gone down the gutter, should I go to a DO school or get my masters in Janitorial Sciences? I mean its almost the same thing (according to some people on this board) but I appreciate any advice. Thank you

I would still go for DO over MS-JS for a few reasons... Even tho DOs aren't really doctors, they still get to wear those cool scrubs if they want. Also, DOs are only going to be cleaning patient poop whereas a Janitor could possibly end up cleaning poop in schools, airports, etc. I mean yea, most people are going to know that your not really a doctor, but surely there will be some patients who don't know DO from MD and will still end up calling you doctor anyway..

DO>MS-JS all dzzayy. 👍
