why is TPR so much more expensive than Kaplan?

Here in Canada, TPR goes for $1600 and Kaplan goes for about $1300.


What's the deal?


TPR gives you more of something? of what?

Anyone take both courses, or know what the difference between the two is?

Finally, if one had decided to take a prep course, which of the above would you choose? why?

More hours of instruction.
Kaplan: 54 hours
TPR: 102 hours

Despite the higher price, I ended up taking TPR. I have friends who both took the course and taught the course ... they all gave it great reviews. So far it seems pretty good to me, but I just started ...

I always thought they cost the same, so not sure If I can answer that for you. But TPR is more geared towards teaching the material and giving you A LOT of homework. Kaplan seems more to teach the test and mind set and giving you a lot of practice. If you can self learn a lot or know the material already, I think Kaplan would be wise. If you are really in need of a review and want high yield info handed to you, I think TPR is the way to go.

Either way you go, I'd highly suggest purchasing the EK 1001 and verbal series. Good luck.
