Hi guys.....say for instance that you are interviewing at an allopathic school and the interviewer asks you "Why M.D. and not D.O?"...How would you guys answer that question coherently without mentioning the reason that some people argue of a little stigma attached to being a D.O (i.e answering the question without offending the interviewer who may have a wife who is a D.O)?

nice try!

Similar to another question I heard... why DO and not MD? This is how I would respond to this question with a touch of sarcasim.

My grades are not good enough to get me into MD school.. so I will apply to DO and get my degree and than do allop residence and hide my DO title under my specialty.

You can say the inverse for MD school interviews. And don't worry his wife won't be offended since MDs can't marry DOs (state law from 1609)

bill - thought its was 1611? or was it introduced into parliment in 1608, ratified, then passed in 1609 but enacted with limitations in 1611?

introduced into parliment in 1608, ratified, then passed in 1609

I should of specified that... I hope I did not mislead anyone.

Thanxs MSHDOC.. I will mention that tomorrow at my interview

👍 Don't want you to look like an idiot! 🙂

Are you seriously asking people on a pre-DO thread how to answer a question about why MD and not DO?

Sniff, Sniff, Do I smell a troll?

🙄

Docbill,
why on earth would you want to hide the fact that you are a DO??? Plus, I doubt that any osteopathic school would find "my grades arent good enough for MD" a good, well thought out answer. That makes it sound as if they are your (and have been) your second choice, or backup, all along.

come on...you gotta dig a little deeper than that impromptu, disrespectful answer you recommended.

that's kinda hard to read...

whoa, that was weird...sorry guys...I typed it in all caps in the reply box, but apparently that doesnt work!

kinda made me look like the idiot, huh???

fixed it

I am new at this game, but I have seen this word "Troll" 😕 a lot. Would someone please explain what it means. Thanks!

I bet you believe MDs really can't marry DOs also.

MDs prefer to marry DOs...we're better at palpating the lumbosacral area. 😀

I'm pretty sure Docbill was being sarcastic.
