Why MD instead of NP?
My reason for MD/DO has always been clear because of my love for Pre-Hospital Medicine. Meaning my goal is to be a Medical Director for a EMS system and conduct EMS/Critical Care related research. To my knowledge the path of MD/DO is only way to do this ( I understand research is able to be done various health care and non health care workers). So in the end I want to be a EM Physician while a Medical Director for EMS system.:xf:
To be clear there are EMS Directors which is quite different then Medical Directors.
To be clear this is not my only reason for becoming a physician but the reason for physician rather than any other NP,PA,ETC

fyi- I have 3 friends who are ems medical directors who are pa's. they write protocols, respond to scenes, participate in studies, etc
all former medics. 2 work in rural areas as the primary ems medical directors , 1 works in an urban area as "associate ems medical director".
the associate medical director of my dept is a pa. it will probably be my job in 3 years when her term expires.

I decided, from day one, that I wanted to know as much as possible about whichever field I went into so that I could be the best I could possibly be at my career. Frankly, MD's have a wider breadth of knowledge about medicine than do NP's. I therefore want to be an MD.
