I posted this with the residents and physicians but i also wanted to get perspective from pre-podiatry students as well. My question is as follows:

Why did you choose podiatry over say like optometry, physical therapy, chiropractic, pharmacy, or being an MD/DO physician? I have shadowed different health professionals and I am still undecided although I am leaning heavily towards podiatry. I just wanted to get your guys's perspectives and personal inputs. Thanks.

This is the only job where you can be a physician and surgeon in one practice. I like the control DPMs have over their expertise, because they rarely need to make referrals since they do the procedure themselves.
