Why should I be a medical doctor instead of a dentist?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
He might still want to help people, not crap on them 🙂 I kid, kind of

Or, you can be a PhD, researcher, PA, CRNA, RN, etc. They all make great pay and have relatively nice lifestyles.

tru dat. Altough, I think the parallels between physician/dentist are closer than any of the degrees you've listed (in terms of how education is delivered).

Have you guys seen The Hangover. The character in there shows one reason not to be a dentist. Not the best one though.

The movie hangover was soooo funny. they make fun of dentist so much

My sister is a dentist. I am starting med school this year. Her lifestyle may be much easier than mine, as she doesn't have to deal with night calls etc (except in residency, which was optional anyway). Overall the pay and lifestyle is better. There are also many dental fields to specialize in, if one chooses. I could have applied to dental school as well, but I am just really interested in how the body works as a unit. Maybe I will regret my decision later; I don't know. But I am still going to medical school, as it's the only thing I can really see myself pursuing at this point.

If you wanna smile, become a dentist. They make fortunes and require only half the training of physicians.

Neither career will make you rich and famous, but both offer great fodder for writing science fiction novels which WILL make you rich and famous
[drum roll.. cymbal crash] 😛

Finally, Whats the deal with hospital food and long lines at the socialized medical clinic?

"he'll be here all night folks!"

okay, my comedy hour is done. Best of luck in whichever career you choose. 🙂
