I guess I’m wondering. I sort of think the point to the interview is not to see how much the applicant studied for it. If you think you should be a vet and enter vet school, then shouldn’t you already be prepared to deal with all these ethics and knowledge of the profession questions, as well as be a person who can think on their toes?

I guess to those that are obsessed with the potential interview questions and their answers….do you ever think that maybe you aren’t really prepared at some level? All the shadowing should have amply exposed you to enough medicine and practice that you can talk intelligently about and have opinions on countless matters.

I was more worried that my name tag was on straight or that I’d have a booger hanging off my nose then what they were going to ask me and what I’d say.

Just wondering…

I'm a non-trad, and I've interviewed many staff and veterinarians to hire, so maybe I'm not scared of interviews (or perhaps I should be, but am not).

Then again, I haven't heard anything from anywhere yet... so maybe if I am invited to interview, I'll start freaking out then...

I think I'll be more worried about what to wear, since my fashion sense is kinda non-existent at times.

I guess the folks who have been invited to interview have more to sweat about right now than I do. The waiting is sure hard.

I'm stressed about potential interviews for a few reasons...

Not so much content-wise, I feel pretty well versed regarding vet med, ethics etc.. The things that have me slightly stressed are: how well will I express my self, will I appear nervous, appear or come across as immature (as I'm only 20). etc.

I know quite a few fellow applicants that are overly concerned that they'll be asked a medical questions that they don't know the answer to. . .The adcoms do realize that we are pre-vet, and will not know the detailed mechanism of some random disease process, or whater. I think, if we have sufficient exeperience to apply, we'd likely know the commonly asked basic med questions (coggins test, parvo puppies, URI kittens). duh.

One question that I heard was asked at UF (last year), was regarding pet overpopulation. I don't recall the exact question.... However, I think (or at least hope) as pre-vet students...everyone has a knowledge of the the vast pet overpopulation problem in the US (and elsewhere). Spay & Neuter. :--)

G'Night.

Minnesota does behavioral interviews, and I just find those creepy - it's such a common failure mode to go completely blank for the stupidest questions, and then come up with just the right anecdote to illustrate "a time when I used logic to solve a problem" or whatever immediately *after* walking out of the interview room...

i didn't know a coggins test and i've worked at a s.a. vet clinic as a nurse for nearly eight years!! now, i really am freaking out!! what other horse things do i need to learn before the interview?
