they're some of the stuff i've heard people say about EM, just like other stuff people rib surgeons with, and anesthesiologists, etc.

The surgery chief and 'tern were down consulting on a pt of mine the other night. We get along pretty well. The chief pulled me aside and told me I was really cool and a good doc, and that I should think about transferring to a "real specialty". I giggled at him on my way out while he was going to the OR and I was going home.

Because while my friends get "pimped" during their interviews, I spend mine laughing and sharing stories with people I would more than love to spend 3-4 years with!

Because it's wonderful to finally be around people who appreciate a quirky sense of humor, who realize that medicine is fallable and they are not gods for practicing it, just around people who are down to earth... I love you guys!

Just finished the EM interview trail, and I'm now even more satisfied with my career choice, having met so many awesome, laid back, nice people at interviews. It made me happy to know that these peeps will be my colleagues.

My tolerance for rounding is diminishing by the day; even being on a consult month right now where rounds tend to go faster, I want to gouge out my eyes for the whole 30 minutes.

Because we univerally hate rounding and would do anything to get out of it! Seriously though, EM people are the best people I have ever been around. I think its because we are all thinking about what we are going to do on our days off, and not about "when" our next day off will be. I'd rather commit to 12 hours of hard and honest work than arrive at 5 AM and wonder how many times I was going to have to round, how many hours I was going to spend chasing electrolytes, and how many hours I was going to wait for the attending to arrive before rounding again!! Life in EM is a beautiful thing and I can't believe I ever considered doing anything else.

Corpsman took the words right out of my mouth. I cannot wait until July to start my intern year.
