I'm still trying to figure out why an MD is more prestigious than a DO. As a patient, I would rather see a DO vs an MD. I am comforted by the fact that DO's are trained to approach patients in a more holistic manner. Most MD's (in my opinion) suck. Nutrition and lifestyle are so important to an individual's overall health, and MD's just seem to dismiss those things as being unimportant.

Is becoming a DO your fist choice? Or would you rather pursue a career as an MD?

There are a multitude of similar threads here with a wealth of information that can be found utilizing the search bar. In order to avoid yet another MD vs DO or why DO over MD or what makes MD better flame war from igniting this one will be closed. I highly suggest @WedgeDawg description of the MD vs DO discussions here.

Just wanted to note this. DO students are no more holistic in their training than MD students. The idea that osteopathic training suddenly gives you a clearer or better understanding of the patient is just false information. MD or DO alike, you still obtain a patients social history, family history and yes that includes nutrition and lifestyle. MD's for sure 99.99999% of the time do NOT dismiss those things. Heck, there are now MD schools with courses on diet and cooking healthy meals: https://med.uc.edu/ome/curriculum/nutrition
