Step III Will a high step 3 score help with getting a residency

Hi,

I passed both step 1 and step 2 ck first attempt but with a low score. However, since step 1 score was changed to a pass/fail so it isn't a factor anymore in the residency application, I was wondering the following: If my goal is to do either FM or IM and not a fellowship, should I try to get a high score in step 3 to increase my chances at getting into a residency, or will a pass with a low score be sufficient? I'm just not great at standardized exams.

I am also struggling to get more interviews. So any advice will be appreciated. Please be kind in your responses. Thanks!

I have only started doing research recently. My step 1 is 215 and step 2 is 217.

yes that is true. I'm doing step 3 to strengthen my residency application
