Will doing Exclusively Ortho research hurt me if I applied to other specialities?

So last time I asked about having to do specifically Ortho research for ortho. I got my answer and found a project to hop on to. BUT, I'm realizing I definitely don't have time to do both research projects (the other one is a immuno/infectious disease based study).

So my question is, if I do decide to not do ortho, will my ortho research hurt me if I applied IM or Derm or etc?

I'm only in my first year and I think Ortho is fascinating , but in hesitant to say it's my only choice before I even see what the other specialities are like.

For Ortho you need Ortho research. I don’t know what other specialties would think about that. I know general surgery would think they’re a backup for you. Derm likes their own research too from what I hear.
