Will it be bad to include this in a letter of intent?

I was waitlisted at my top choice school and I was thinking of sending a letter of intent in case it helps at all. The only new thing I have done since submitting my secondary was that I helped a family member with creating a tech startup. I'm not listed as a founder/co-founder, but I did help with obtaining some funding. I am concerned about including this in a LOI because I don't want it to appear like medicine is not my true passion since this is so far removed from healthcare, if that makes sense? Other than that, I don't have any updates I could include. If I can't include this update, is it acceptable to send a letter of intent without mentioning any new activities?

This will have no affect on their decision.
