I heard that Nurse Practitioner's in the future may replace GP's due to Physician shortage. Is this true?

I wouldn't be surprised... These NP's is straight violating on our profession..

I already know people who go to NPs instead of GPs

Will they replace us? Hardly. But they will take up a small portion of the market.

At the end of the day, I doubt the general public will place all their trust in NPs when GPs will continue to be more qualified. I know many people who refuse to be seen by NPs simply for the fact they aren't real doctors.

Don't sweat this one. We were talking about it 20+ years ago, and even then it was already an old topic. FNPs see a different case mix of patients and don't pose a threat to primary care physicians.

Simple answer: Physicians handle the complex patients. NPs and PAs handle the basic patients.
