I'll be done with my M.S. in Biology with a 3.83 GPA in Spring! I
have also retaken any prereqs that I got below a C and taken all
prereqs that I haven't previously. My postbac total (prereq + grad
classes + random science classes to boost my gpa) is 100 units.
However, my undergrad cummulative GPA is around 2.52 (terrible I know,
I'm pretty embarrassed 🙁). Therefore, taking into account every class
I have taken, my GPA will be just around 2.98.

If a school requires a 3.0 minimum GPA, do you think they will take
into account my M.S. GPA and see I did well, and can continuously do
well, or do you think they will just throw out my app because I guess
I don't technically meet the 3.0 minimum.

I also have pharmacy experience, leadership experience, and work
experience so I'm not really worried about that part of my
application, just mainly the GPA part. Any advice / knowledge is
greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I read a post similar to your question, but I can not find it. All grades are calculated, so your undergraduate and graduate courses are taken into account. I believe this only falls into schools using Pharmcas. Also, pharmacy schools are concern with your pre-reqs grades. I'm sure you will hear this a lot, but there are other factors other than GPA considered when granting an interview to someone. By the way, nice GPA upward trend 👍.

How many more As would you need to make that .02 push? Couldn't you load up on a bunch of easy community college classes in the summer before you send your application?

well that 100 units is me already taking 20 units spring quarter and i've already taken all the courses they offer in the summer. i was going to take classes in the fall to raise my gpa for the next application cycle (just in case i don't get in) but that wont help me this year

On the Pharmcas, your grades are divided into several categories when they calculate the GPA. Each category is divided into sub-categories of Science, Non-Science, Math, and Total

The categories are: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Post Baccalaureate, Cum. Undergrad, Graduate, Professional, and Overall.

I think you might have to contact the school in question to find out if the 3.0 requirement looks at the Overall GPA calculation from Pharmcas. The school may also have their own formula for calculating GPAs. I was told by USC that they also re-calculate GPAs using their own formula (which usually comes out the same or very close to the Pharmcas calculations). If you plan on applying to the school, I'd recommend at least meeting the minimum requirements, which would be the 3.0 GPA. Like the previous poster suggested, try to load up on some classes to boost your GPA over the 2.98 to 3.0 and remove the chance of being technically disqualified from the application process.

How did you calculate your cum GPA? I'm assuming yourself. Also, did you take into account Pharmcas' numeric grade values? For example, B+ is 3.3 not a 3.5. You never mentioned if you to took the PCAT...

Also, some schools will disregard science and math classes older than 5 years, so if any of the C's are those classes you have that in your corner. Talk with the admissions for each school you're interested in and find out what they say. Only they will know the answers for sure.
