Will some schools screen me out for not having all the required courses?

Apologies if this has already been asked, I tried looking but couldn't find a good answer.

For example one school requires 2 semesters of behavioral sciences but I only have 1. Would they just not bother with my application (and screen me out) or is it not that big of a deal (they'll still consider my app and if I get accepted, just need to finish the class before matriculation?)

Should I pick schools based on course requirements I have fulfilled?

Does this kind of thing differ between schools or do all schools generally treat course requirements the same?

Most requirements need be met by matriculation, not application.
You can always contact the school to make sure that they are not one of the very few that expect that they be met earlier.

You need to take the courses my matriculation. But you should probably have down on your application the future courses that you are taking during the application cycle. If you aren't planning to take another behavioral sciences course then don't apply to them.

Yeah, you should have. I can't recall if you can update your courses or not on the primary application. If not then on secondary applications for questions that ask what you will be doing this year you can discuss it then. Or call the school and let them know.

Schools do not typically check for prereq fulfillment until after you have taken up an offer of acceptance. The vast majority of schools do not do any kind of course screening during the admissions process

Out of curiosity, do schools actually rescind admissions for not completing a prereq? Seems strange to me that after all the resources they put into an applicant it would be odd to reject them over not completing a sociology class or something. Obviously you should never be in that position but I'm just curious if they would really take that step

They don't always have a choice - some of the requirements are part of their LCME accreditation. They could request a waiver for the courses you're missing, but it's not guaranteed (and they'd have to do this for each course for every applicant).
