The general consensus is that when unemployment goes up, applications to graduate and professional programs goes up. Some will say, "but it takes time to get the pre-reqs". Sure, however, there are many people who have the pre-reqs but who would choose to do X rather than make an application. With X off the table, they'll make the application.
With the recession on the horizon for some time, and with changes in the job market due to the pandemic, and the availability of online and hybrid classes, some people may have started the post-bac process in 2020, 2021 and are now ready to apply.
I do expect that the 2023 cycle will be a hot one.
