So I have been extremely worried since the AMCAS application has opened up and as everyone knows there are so many stories people say about getting rejected to medical schools under various circumstances.
So I have a gap of 3.49 have researched for over 2 years partook in a program called medical horizons which a medical school has to accept you in. Worked as a PCT for about 3 months and still am. Still have a partime position as a lab technician in the gross anatomy lab at the medical school in my area. I also have traveled two times over seas to visit different cultures and experience the lifestyle in 3rd world countries where I got to witness very undeserved areas in healthcare. Volunteered at regional area medical clinics and the boys and girls club from time to time. In over 10 organizations when I was in school. I also have shadowed orthopedics and associates in my area over winter breaks. I also am a certified financial representative currently studying to become a CFP/CFA. I deal alot with physicians and their practices and har understood what they go through with their managed care groups they are apart of. Owning my own financial firm has been a huge landmark in my life. Finally my letters of recommendation have a lot of strength from community members who donate toward several medical schools, the owner of a fast food chain that has built several buildings for the medical school.
I am of cuban decent both of my parents had to flee Cuba when castro took over. Spanish was my first language, I am bilingual. Both of my parents are high risk perinatologists and I used to work in their practice for 7 to 8 years when we lived in florida then moved to Pittsburgh Philadelphia and East Tennessee (If that adds any value).
What I am worried about is that I have not taken my mcat yet and will take it the latest they allow you for this admission period. If I apply now and send my scores when I receive them what is the chance that I would get interviews if I have applied to over 100 schools. Also I had a wreck less driving 7 months ago for improper lane control which is getting expunged in October so I will have to say I had been convicted of a missdeamonor but the application does not end until November. I just do not want too leave it blank and the medical school see it and think I was lying which I would not want them to think, since I'm very truthful if I am putting this personal information on here.
Please give me honest critique and what I should do to improve my odds of getting interviewed and accepted. There is a lot more that I have done extracurricular wise but these are the highlights.
Can't wait to hear what you all think this will help me a lot
