Say my GPA is low this semester and I get "screened out". Will they even bother to look at my personal statement, or will they just say "screw this guy?" Just wondering. Thanks for the help.
All depends on how they screen. Generally, if they're screening, I believe it's before looking at anything about the application other than GPA/MCAT. It wouldn't be a very meaningful screening tool otherwise.
Applying with a downward trend when you already have huge low-GPA issues wouldn't do you any favors.
If there is a box where you can mark disadvanged status (they have it for AMCAS, but I'm not sure if AACOMAS and TMDSAS have it too) you have a better shot at having the PS read, regardless.
