will they rescind my admission

i might get a C+ in A & P this semester, and i was accepted last semester, the acceptance was contingent upon finishing all the courses listed and keeping or raising my GPA. if i get 100 on the last test and practical then i will get a B-. will they revoke my admission for that?

I wouldn't be too worried, just do your best. I was under the impression that most schools just want you to get at least C's, that's what it is for me.

no i don't think i can drop it, i already posted the class list on aadsas when the semester started for the fall update, big mistake, now if i need to change my schedule i have to write a request to the school, stating my reason, and the tuition refund dates, drop dates etc. i don't want to attract any negative attention to my file.

well a & p is not one of their pre-requisites so you are most likely fine. But, UDM does stress the importance of post-acceptance grades so you should contact Ms. La Rose Neil to see if you are fine. No one on sdn can really tell you the answer that you are looking for.

as teamguo stated, no one on sdn knows the answer for sure, but the general consensus is that if it is not a prerequisite it's not a deal breaker.

should you get a C or C+ make sure the prof of the class knows your situation. some profs are pretty cool and will help you out.

can you change the grading to Pass/Fail? If you can, you might want to consider it. You might still need to inform your dental school of the grade option change.

I highly doubt this is possible. Just because a student is getting a ****ty grade, that doesn't give him/her the luxury of changing the graded course into a pass/fail course.

If you are so worried, stop looking for a way out, instead study some a & p and get better than a C! Done deal.

Sorry for the crazy late reply. I was a lil busy. The C rule at my friend's school was given AFTER he was accepted. He called halfway thru the semester to say that he might get a C and what he should do....they said that they'd have to review it but that he should just try his best. Again, to be honest, if he had've gotten one C, i don't think Detroit woulda rejected him.

To the other two people: I should have made myself more clear. Not all dental students strive for a C. In fact I shouldn't have used the word "strive." First off, people who wanna specialize obviously all go for A's. As for the MAJORITY of the class, most study hard and if they get an A, great! If they end up with a C, oh well! There's obviously some that literally strive for Cs because they don't care about getting a high GPA. I'm not specializing, I study hard (have mostly A's and B's). I don't WANT a C for pride reasons, but sometimes I don't care because 90% of our first year classes are garbage and will hardly be used in dentistry (i dare you to ask a dentist some of the crap we learn in biochem and see if he knows it). I'm 100% sure every dental school is filled with FIRST YEAR students with similar attitudes: "If I'm not specializing, why put in a ridiculous amount of EXTRA effort for an A when I won't ever use Biochem again."

okey, so i ended up with a B- and B, for nine credits and my GPA is 2.8 for this semester. my overall GPA changed from 3.75 to 3.69. and my science GPA changed from 3.66 to 3.55. the acceptance letter said that it is contingent on maintaining or raising my GPA. i'm really worried they will revoke the acceptance. the GPA is still within the average GPA of last year's class. in the middle of the semester i called the school and they said i have to get B's and A's. now i'm calling the school and they keep telling me it is up to the committee and they can't tell me anything, and i can't get a hold of the director of admissions. i've already got my bachelor degree last semester and i graduated with honor, so that GPA is not going to change, but i calculated the cumulative overall GPA. please help, i'm going nuts with this....

some schools make it clear that you MUST finish your bachelor's degree before matriculation, but others say things like "maintaining high academic standards." that statement right there means different things to different people, so it's really vague and just hard to tell.

i think since you've already finished your bachelor's you should be ok. i don't think they'd rescind your admission unless there was a huge drop in your GPA or you failed all you classes or something. call the schools and explain your situation

try to relax and chill out because a B- isn't that bad and I highly doubt a dental school will kick you out after you finished your degree and taking this class for enrichment. If A/P is a pre-req for mercy, I'm sure all have to be completed with a C or better so you are still fine.

no it is not a prerequisite, so that's good.. but i don't know why the school keep stalling. i called them last week tuesday, and everytime i call, they say to call back and see. they are probably so busy with applications, but i need to put my mind to rest.
