WHAT UP

im a third year at us md state school. got above average on my step 1. honored my first three rotations but only got a HP in pediatrics because of a dumb low shelf score (40% nationally). fwiw i thought i was going to poop my pants during the exam because i wasn't feeling good. i got really, really good comments on my eval in all my rotations and especially pediatrics. not sure about lor.

anyways, i really wanna do pediatrics but i'm stuck in a very competitive city in the NE that rhymes with oston because of my wifes job. i really dont care which of the programs i get into, but im just a little concerned since they are all pretty competitive

The HP in peds won't really hurt. It might things more difficult Boston Children's, but there's also Tufts, MGH and then UMass and Brown and Maine Med if you're willing to drive a bit. Other than Boston Children's, none of those programs are super competitive.

You should be fine. That area is competitive, but there are also a lot of good programs around.
