If I take the dat in august and have my apps ready orhwat not and send it out, wil lthat be a really late application? for like tufts, bu schools like that...

it's hard to say when "late" begins, but if you are going to wait to take the DAT, make sure you have already submitted your app. Scores arrive relatively quickly, but addsas may take 8 weeks to process everything. If everything looks stellar, most schools won't worry that they didn't get everything in june. If things are less than perfect then every advantage is worth it. People talk about acing the DAT like it's something everyone will do, once it is pointed out to them. Ace the DAT- oh, I didn't think of that. Well applying early is doable for everyone, but many won't.

Exactly. ... If your stats are great, you shouldn't have any problem getting into schools applying in August. Otherwise, try to get the application as early as possible.

Good Luck 👍

i didn't take my DATs until mid/late september and I still recieved a interview for BU. Its definitely possible, just make sure your scores are competitive.

Apply earlier if at all possible. The number of applicants is rising every year, and many of them will be applying on Day 1. Besides, some schools begin interviewing in September.

Schools don't start interviewing until the end of August or beginning of September. So August isn't late at all.

But the later you apply, the later you interview. Admissions are rolling at most schools. So while the first interview dates may be the end of August or early September, those dates are typically filled by applications from May, June, and July. If you submit in September, you'll be interviewing in November at many schools. Once again, that isn't necessarily late, but you've got to give yourself every benefit in this game.

I would submit aadsas mid-june or so if I were you. You can prepare for your aadsas in advance by knowing who will write recommendations for you and contacting them, writing your personal statement, and making a list of your activities/shadowing/work experience. I felt that I was at an advantage by submitting early since I had heard back from the schools for interviews etc. all before Dec. 1.

I applied in late September and didn't have my first interview until mid-December! ... Apply early if at all possible. 👍

Quick question...if you submit your aadsas application lets say on June 1, but you dont send in your DAT scores till a later date...which date determines your "official application date", when you submit it or when its complete (with DAT info)??

Two things come into play here:

1. The Earlier you submit AADSAS the earlier you apps will get mailed to the schools. If you submit your AADSAS app say June 1 believe it or not you are already behind, because there will be hundreds that submit slightly after May 15th. Submitting late May will ensure that AADSAS mails your apps generally by mid July. This puts you at the TOP of the applicant pile.

2. This means that you can take your DAT anytime between the time you submit your AADSAS app and Mid July and still be at the TOP of the ADCOM's application pile.

If you take your DAT in say August you will just be a couple of weeks behind because your app is already in at all the schools. Remember it takes A LONG TIME for AADAS to process your app. It takes the ADA two weeks to send your DAT scores.

What you don't want to have happen is to submit your AADSAS app after you take the DAT. You will then be somewhere between the middle and bottom and will have a very hard time filling an interview spot before December.

Bottom line: if you submit AADSAS in August, your application wont be sent out to schools until sometime in September, and possibly even October. While if you take your DAT in August the scores will be available to schools online a few days after your test date (if they already have your application and are interested, they will actively look for your scores) and mailed out roughly 2 weeks after that.
Submit BEFORE you take your DAT.

Seems reasonable. The only thing Im confused about is I thought you had access to the application (can fill it out and stuff) on May 15th, but couldn't submit it until June 1st? I haven't really seen any conclusive set in stone dates on any websites, but that is just what I inferred through the grapevine.😕

You can start filling it out May 15th, and you can submit the same day. This is coming from a person with multiple acceptances. I have friends with the same stats as myself, but submitted a couple weeks later. The only difference being is unfortunately they do not have any acceptances.

I had my AADSAS finished in June, but I took my DAT the end of August. Your application will still get sent out without DAT scores, and then you can add them later. I had 2 interviews in Oct and one in Dec.
