Hi everyone.
These days, I just so much of serious thought regarding to my future.
Firstly,
[FONT=&#44404]I am currently going to University of Nevada, Reno..
[FONT=&#44404]I didn't have any other option although I was accepted from many of out-of-state colleges due to my family's financial situation..
[FONT=&#44404].
[FONT=&#44404]I have heard from many people it would be better to attend the college that has school of pharmacy, but other 50% of people said, it doesn't really matter..
[FONT=&#44404].
[FONT=&#44404]My choices of schools are University of Southern Nevada, Oregon State University, Pacific University, University of Utah. .
[FONT=&#44404].
[FONT=&#44404]If I transfer to Oregon state university to take the potential benefit, will it be a good idea or will it be just a risk? Is entering pharmacy school soley depend on how well I'm doing in my school? Or would there be benefit if I transfer to college that has pharmacy school?.
[FONT=&#44404].
[FONT=&#44404]I am seriously thinking about it and my family's financial situation got better, so I will be able to afford out of state college..
[FONT=&#44404].
[FONT=&#44404]I want to hear from you guys' opinions !.
[FONT=&#44404]It would be better if there's statistics that shows real acceptance rate, etc..
[FONT=&#44404].
[FONT=&#44404]Thank You All and I really Appreciate the Help from you all..

Oregon State University prefers in-state applicants, which means you are at a serious disadvantage if you apply as an out of state applicant.

Are you talking about Pacific Oregon or U of Pacific Stockton, CA? Both schools don't care about out of state applicants. This means you can finish up your pre-reqs in Nevada and apply. Just focus on your ECs, pharmacy experiences, grades and your application essays.

Like Oregon State, UF also prefers in-state applicants. I am convinced, as are other students currently attending pharmacy school at UF, that the University of Florida prefers UF graduates over any other applicant. As I have stated before in my previous posts, UF is the top school in the state of Florida. So, if only 2% of the entering class comes from out-of-state applicants, then it makes sense that UF COP Adcom's would take a UF graduate with average/above-average GPA, stats, etc. over a similarly competitive in-state applicant.

However, this may not necessarily hold true for every other school. Like I tell everyone else who asks this question, do your research on the school(s) you plan on applying to for pharmacy school. Even better, try to speak with current pharmacy students to see if they did their undergraduate there too. This will give you a good idea as to whether or not going to the same undergrad as your prefered COP will in fact benefit you.

Good luck!

If you go to the link below you can figure out if the pharmacy school of your interest prefers in-state residents or not. If they don't prefer in-state residents, it doesn't matter where you finish your pre-reqs. All of the schools I applied to was out of state, and didn't have problem getting interviews.
