Hi, can anyone tell me if this class will count towards sGPA? I think it should but I want to be sure as I'm taking classes to boost my sGPA.

Psychobiological Aspects of Drugs

It goes under the psychobio course code (PSB) at my school.

The course description says:
Focuses on pharmacology, neurophysiology and neuroanatomy as the foundation of understanding behavior and social consequences of drug use.

Yes it would go under biology so long as it's listed under the biology department and not the psychology department.

Edit: Just read the psychobio course code. Since it's cross listed it should count.

Awesome, I have two other classes under the PSB course code so those should count as well right?

Physiological Psychology - The physiological basis of behavior, emphasizing the relationship between the nervous system and behavior.

Neuropsychology - Study of brain function, with particular emphasis on human behavior.

Yes. They would all count under bio in bcpm.

If the class is at least 50% hard science, it should count as BCPM, as AMCAS is using that criteria instead of course prefix to make its determination. If the verifiers disagree they'll change it, leaving you with the recourse to appeal the decision by providing proof.

What logistical criteria is used in determining 50% hard sciences? Department course description? Syllabus?

The course catalog description or a signed attestation by the faculty person teaching the class, but logically a detailed on-line syllabus should work, too.

NO! Courses are classified SOLELY by course content and not by departmental code. Courses are classified by the official college catalog description for the year/term the course was taken. It is done so initial by 1) the science terms in the description; 2) ratio of science vs non science terms; and 3) weighted score/probability that is accepted automatically or reviewed by verifier if not clearly science or non science in score

Thank you for your input gonnif. If initially it's determined that the courses are non-BCPM, what recourse can the student take to appeal the decision? Also, do you think the three classes I mentioned (with the course descriptions) would qualify as BCPM?
