I am trying to see if this falls under " Clinical Experience" or not, and are these hrs enough for ECs with LM=71.

1) Shadow a Nephrologist in a Hospital and came in contact with patients daily. Even observe a kidney Transplant in the Surgery room. ( hrs 80+)
2) Shadow an Ophthalmologist in an Eye Hospital and came in contact with Patients. (hrs 40+ )
3) Shadow a Hepatologist in a Hospital ICU. (hrs 40+)
4) Volunteer in a Hospital and work with Patients in moving them to different locations and in the ER.(hrs 150)
5) Took 1 week Medical Mission trip to South America ( hrs 50)
6) Research in Generic Diseases using DNA extraction and genotyping in a University Medical Center .(hrs 400+).

1,2,3: Shadowing is a subset of clinical experience for which 40 to 50 hours is generally sufficient. A longitudinal care office setting is especially useful. It is a passive experience, though.
4: Hospital volunteering with patients is clinical experience.
5: This is not the type of clinical experience that helps one understand medical practice in the US. There are significant reservations about these trips.
6: This is not clinical experience.

^^ I can see that #6 falls under Research, but I always thought that #5 is a Lifetime experience which one can not get in US.
Helping underprivileged people and especially kids in these countries is priceless.. US and local Medical staff was present
and we cover Primary Care and Dental . But I agree definitely not Clinical experience.

Planning to do more Research in Summer in a different Area and will continue with more Shadowing in different areas too.

Thanks Gyngyn

I understand that you meant well, but these experiences are not viewed entirely positively: https://www.aamc.org/download/474346/data/clinicalexperiencesshadowingsurvey.pdf

Thanks for the link and I can understand now clearly why they don't view this as positively. I took the trip with MedLife and they provided local Doctor, nurses and staff plus MedLife provide Medicine and Tools.
We also did community work and talk to them about proper Hygiene. I can speak enough Spanish to communicate with them which was very helpful.
After reading this I am thinking should I put this in my app or not.?

@gonnif thanks for your insight and the link.

Yes I mean Genetic diseases and we only work with Lab Mices no humans involve..

I do have some Community experience not much which I did not mention in my OP.
a) Visit Old Houses and spend time with them like playing games, talking to them and giving them Food. (40 hrs so far and will keep doing it)
b) Do community work in the area of my School like ( Painting of the School and houses where some students live and go to school; planting trees in the local community, Run for Cancer Charity and few other ) (~40hrs)
c) Transcribed Notes for students who are unable to take notes due to Disability. ( 1 semester)
d) During High School did ~ 150 hrs of Volunteer work like working in a Food Bank and raising money for different Charities..

I agree with you to balance my services from Shadowing to volunteer healthcare settings. I will look for more in this area starting from next month and into Fall of 2017.
I will apply to Med school first week of June so hopefully I can append these to my application in July/aug/Sept.. I also work 8-10 hrs per week .

One more question I have is that Do Committee Letter from an undergrad school helpful in an application or not. I might get one .

I've heard that they don't like when you consider shadowing to be clinical experience, and expect you to list it under "other" in the activities section. Is that true?

Have you been trained as a medical interpreter in Spanish? Would you be allowed to interpret in the US with your certification?

Answer is no I am not trained nor certified as medical interpreter in Spanish.
In one of my Shadowing experience in USA the Doctor has many Spanish speaking patients who were unable or barely speak any English some of the patients comes to USA from other countries for treatment.
With those patients I was able to understand and communicate. My Doctor was Fluent in English and Spanish so she understand them and talk to them in Spanish. I normally take Notes and then she discuss
those with me. One of her requirement to Shadow her is to speak and understand Spanish since she sees many Spanish speaking patients.
My first language is English but I pick up Spanish by taking Spanish Classes in HS and University.

Learning Spanish is good.
Performing services abroad that one would not be permitted to do in the US is not recommended.
