So I made a really stupid mistake and miscalculated my hours for one of my most meaningful activities. I worked 400, but put 500 on my application. This was suppose to be a placeholder based on my best estimate. I was planning on going back and verifying my hours, but obviously forgot. I found the mistake when reading over the essay for a secondary, and I saw that stupid 500 sitting there. I immediately contacted my supervisor to see if she could verify my actual hours (should have done this at the beginning but didn't think about it).

SOO, I am going to email all my schools and update them about this mistake because I hate the idea of being dishonest, especially because this experience was legitimately important.

But will this significantly hurt my application? I know it may raise some questions about attention to detail...but I'm hoping it's not too detrimental.

I personally would not. It is 100 hours in an activity that was good but isn't crazy high numbers of hours. I do not think it would be checked. And if it was, it would likely be considered projection in my opinion. I don't see any benefit in drawing attention to it.

Furthermore, I do not see any more benefit in you looking at your primary any more. You will continue to nitpick things that you can't change.

I would not email them about this. It’s not like you did something for 40 hrs and said you did it for 400.
It’s not ideal but probably not worth drawing attention to IMO.

Is it an option to give another 100 hours to that endeavor or a similar one?

That is something I could potentially look into. Unfortunately, with my current schedule I wouldn't be able to make up those hours right away. I could maybe work during university breaks, or potentially next summer.
