This coming Spring 2010 I will have all of my pre-reqs completed with the exception of Orgo II. I have a question about my schedule though...

I want to study/take a Kaplan course the entire length of the summer and then take the MCAT in Julyish/August-ish without having Orgo II. (I will take Orgo II the following semester, Fall 2010.

I can go ahead and apply after getting my MCAT scores back even though I have not taken orgo II yet correct???? I will obviously take it before matriculation but how do I notate this in AAMCAS?

Also, how important is orgo II for MCAT?

Thanks in advance!!!

Applying with a July/August score is difficult. I'd recommend an April/May testing time. Depending on the school, you may or may not get a secondary until your MCAT scores come in, and it's better to have a score so you know which schools you want to target. Orgo II may or may not be needed for your MCAT. I hardly had any Orgo on mine, but some people have had many essays on Orgo.

essay on orgo?? 👎thumbdown😱

i am pretty sure he means many orgo passages

my exam had a lot of orgo (June 18)

Passages on Orgo. sportsfreak took the AM exam on June 18th and had lots of orgo. I took the PM exam on June 18th, and orgo was "What orgo?"

I know it would be applying late, but i figured I would go ahead and take it then w/o orgo II. That way I can treat studying like a fulltime job all summer and take the mcat in Julyish.

The reason I plan on doing this is so that I do not forget the material learned in the whole year i spend on pre-reqs. All of my semesters before matriculation are going to be 'science gpa boosters' (genetics, biochem, etc.) Do I need to know these courses for mcat?

Most of the Organic I encountered on the MCAT was from Organic I, but still I wouldn't advise taking the MCAT without your prereqs completed. Is it possible for you to take Organic II during that summer?

If you decide to do this, make sure you have your application submitted prior to your MCAT. Do not wait until your scores come in to submit. And yes, I believe you can submit without having taken Organic II, but I am not sure how to notate that...
