Prove it. Also, how many terrorist attacks have been perpetrated on US soil by people from those countries?

And also, why is Saudi Arabia not included?

I’m not a national security expert, but you know all those countries were identified by Obama’s administration to restrict travel from right? I mean, surely you must be aware of that. So was Obama picking those countries cause he hates Muslims?

“The Obama-signed law contains provisions that restrict travel to the United States for people who lived in or visited Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria since March 2011. They must have a visa to enter the United States; they can’t use what is known as the Visa Waiver Program, which allows 90-day U.S. visits to other foreign visitors.

The law was soon expanded by Obama’s Department of Homeland Security to cover Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. They were identified in the agency’s announcement as "countries of concern," a phrase used in the law.”

Are you really that stupid that you think "well shucks, the language didnt explicitly say NO MUSLIMS ALLOWED" therefore it's not bigoted"? Are you another one who pretends dogwhistling doesn't exist?

To make it perfectly clear in an analogy which even you might understand, during Jim Crow after blacks won the right to vote, many counties imposed a poll tax. There was no law that said "BLACKS CAN'T VOTE." It was just understood that the vast, vast majority of people who would be affected by the law happened to be black. Just like the vast, vast majority of people affected by the Muslim ban are Muslim.

Get it now, genius?

Yet another anti-Trump attack predicated on...

intrigue and speculation.

There are hard things in everyone’s pasts. Slavery was wrong. Lots of horrible things in the past were wrong. Doesn’t make everyone today a racist.

Never ever said everyone...
If that indeed happened, we all sympathize, of course. Rape is a terrible act.

Now we know why you are racist toward white people. Thank you for opening up to us.
Maybe you are earnest and being sincere, but your response is some what typical and demonstrates the problem of the starting point of the conversation of race and our collective history. By way of specific example, did you realize that in a large scale dna testing of over 5000 black men with ancestry back to slavery, not a single person, not one, was still 100% black. Which speaks to a horrible history of sexual abuse and power that can be deemed domestically systemic. Think about that....not a single person was pure black even when for the majority of that period of about 200 years, blacks were not just allowed to marry or date white people, but disallowed to congregate in the same public and social places.

And I never said I dislike or hate all white people....

Lmfao, did you really just try to use a HALF-TRUTH politifact to make your point? I just said 10 min ago that there are terrorist elements in those countries and thus there needs to be individual vetting before allowing entry. My point of contention which I bolded before was that Trump with his initial EO tried to put a blanket ban on *all* nationals, and he was doing that not out of any security need but because it would get all his fanboys like you slobbering over sticking it to all those Muslims. Try to keep up.

Come on, are we really going back to attacking a source without disagreeing with the content???? Do you think the content is false or not? Do you disagree that Obama originated the list of countries? Of course you won’t answer...

And why do you think that mentioning “all” nationals somehow disputes anything? Me and Radisrad have already stated that he put a stop to all nationals coming to the US from those 7 countries. What’s your point? He halted ALL NATIONALS from 7 countries that were known to be sending terrorists posing as refugees. You seem to think you are arguing, but you’re just restating what happened. And there was nothing bigoted about it.

Are you trying to make the point that to only ban terrorists would’ve been the better way to go?

And do you understand that’s not possible if you don’t know who they are cause of poor vetting.

I seriously don’t understand your disconnect.

It depends on how you look at it.

Overall, things are going well for the average American. Unemployment is down, the economy is doing fairly well, we still get new iPhones and Samsung Galaxies every year.

Now we all know that the President has limited, at best, influence on any of these things, but that doesn't matter to most people. Country is doing well = President is doing a good job.

Is it, though? Maybe for us. It’s doing well for those who have established wealth, but maybe not so much for people trying to build wealth. How else did a populist like Trump get elected and why is someone like Bernie Sanders so popular? There is a lot of economic dissatisfaction out there and pessimism about the future.

Of course not. I'm sure you just love the ones who genuflect to you.

Your inferences and/or that study don't pass the smell test. Are we to gather that in just the course of a couple of generations, virtually all black women were, at some point or another, not only sexually forced-upon by white men, but also forced-upon at a time that happened to coincide with ovulation? And that whites somehow forced all said rape victims to carry their rape-produced offspring?

BS.

Sanders would get CRUSHED in the general election. He’s popular with young folks cause he rails against rich people and promises free stuff. That kind of nonsense will get certain groups pumped up, but will fail miserably in November.

You're seriously comparing the requirement to get a visa (which applies to most foreign nationals) to banning an entire country of origin?

Disclaimer: I think (radical) Islam is possibly the most retrograde major religion on Earth (and so are many of their countries), but there is a difference between the hoi polloi and the best and brightest. I am against accepting refugees (there are many other countries closer, also culturally), but brain drain is a different story. We don't need the Ilhan Omar's of the world, but we should be happy to get the Malala Yousafzai's.

Jesus, read your sources. It matters because even though Obama highlighted those countries, there was still vetting going on, and there were still being visas granted. It took Trump to say that we are going to blanket ban all nationals because we are too lazy to do vetting. For the last time, blanket banning all people from numerous Muslim majority countries is bigoted.

Again, I stopped arguing with you because you are disingenuous and just ignore sht when you cant contest the point. Address what I brought up about Saudi Arabia. 15 of the 19 hijackers which perpetrated the largest act of terrorism on US soil were from KSA. Why was KSA not on the list? You're too much of a hack to admit that trump's blanket ban had nothing to do with safety.

I suggest you to do a very thorough reading of the large scale DNA project of Henry Louis Gates at Harvard, which delineate his findings. At present, the average Black person has close to 1/4 quarter European blood. So, explain to me how despite not being able to socialize and even be in the same public places why these numbers, this is not BS, this is our actual history whether you like it or not. And I did not say in the last several generations but rather tacking back to the early 1800s.

I told you I’m not an expert on Saudi Arabia or international politics in general, but you can’t honestly say the ban had nothing to do with safety. You are seriously asserting that Trump instituted the ban solely out of racism and trying to please hide racist base????

Isn't it?

People feeling like things aren't doing well doesn't mean things aren't doing well.

And how does this matter today? Not to sound harsh, like Rad said, obviously it’s horrible if this happened to your ancestors. All sympathy to them (and you). Rape is horrible. But it has nothing to do with the white people of today. It just doesn’t.

Damn dude, how many times you think you can use the "I'm not an expert" line when you're repeatedly caught flat footed? Apparently you're expert enough to tell us about the dangers that ALL nationals from Libya, Yemen, Iran etc pose, but I guess you're just oh-so-uninformed about Saudi Arabia. Sure, I'll give you that you're not a security expert, but are you too simple to understand that 15 out of the 19 hijackers on 9/11 came from there? Are you too simple to understand that residents of KSA are some of the largest sponsors of terrorism and many of its citizens have joined ISIS? Are you too simple to wonder why Afghanistan, which houses a gazillion terror organizations within its borders, isn't on the list?

The Muslin ban of *all* nationals from those countries had nothing to do with security. And yes, the fact that you love it so much is proof that trump, Miller, Bannon and company thought it up to appease the racist xenophobes that make up trump's ironclad "he is our messiah" base.

In fact, rape of black women by white enslavers was so prevalent that a 2016 study revealed 16.7 percent of African Americans’ ancestors can be traced back to Europe. One of the study’s authors concludes that the first African Americans to leave the South were those genetically related to the men who raped their mothers, grandmothers, and/or great-grandmothers. These were the enslaved African Americans within the closest proximity to and who spent the longest durations with white men: the ones who toiled in the houses of slave owners.

I await your retort/response to explain all of away...

So tell me this, are there Muslims in Saudi Arabia? I’m no expert, as I’ve mentioned, but I think it’s a Muslim majority ountry. Soooooooo, why don’t you tell me why it wasn’t on the list? If the goal was a racist banning of Muslims, why wouldn’t it be on the list? How does that fit into your racist logic? All of us inbred Hicks would’ve loved to ban even more Muslims right? So you tell me, why wouldn’t racist Trump include it?

So are you saying as a physician that there is no residual affect or PTSD to both a culture and an individual after over 250 years of pronounced sexual trauma? Seriously....

I’m no physician, but I would think most cases of PTSD tend to fade after 250 years have passed.

Money. It may be the one thing Trump cares about more than anything else, including the ability to be racist. Also, "plausible" deniability against accusations of bigotry, which is also the reason they added Venezuela and North Korea (two countries with essentially a zero immigration rate) to the list.

"
Saudi Arabia
Trump referred to the 9/11 attacks in the executive order, but Saudi Arabia was not included on the list—though 15 of the 19 hijackers that day came from the Gulf Kingdom. A Saudi also plotted the attack: Osama Bin Laden. Saudi Arabia is one of the largest international sponsors of Islamist militant groups in the world and among the biggest exporters of foreign fighters to ISIS.

But Riyadh represents lucrative business for Trump and the U.S. government. Saudi Arabia is the world's biggest buyer of arms, while the United States is the biggest seller in the $65 billion industry.

In September, Reuters reported that the Obama administration offered more than $115 billion in arms and military equipment to the House of Saud. The report didn't say how many of the offers, which are reported to Congress, were accepted but most became formal agreements. Trump may also have other interests. According to Bloomberg, Trump's Federal Election Commission filing listed four companies possibly linked to a hotel development project in the coastal Saudi city of Jeddah. The U.S. president spoke with Saudi King Salman bin Abd al-Aziz on Sunday; according to a White House press statement ; the Saudi monarch did not comment on the executive order.

They don't if the patient doesn't really want to heal.

One can't blame all current Catholics for the Inquisition, nor all Americans for Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I’m sorry, what’s the definitive statement you take from those studies? I read through them and it’s seems a lot to do with culture and stigma, but are you asserting that problems like infant mortality rate can be blamed on PTSD from 250 years prior? Seems a bit of a stretch.

Explain to me again, how Trump is going to win in 2020. Kentucky is a very red state, it’s not Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Arizona or even Texas. This clearly signifies most every state is in play....

He can win because he will have a concrete opponent in the general instead of each individual voter's ideal Democrat nominee.

Except that you fail to mention that in the three critical states of MI, PA and WI, in head to head matchups with the three top D candidates he is trailing in all germane polling.

He'll have one opponent to focus on who will have concrete(ish?) positions and policies to attack. Anti-Trump sentiment is pretty maxed out already. Lots of elasticity left for all of the three leading Dem candidates. Warren and M4A is a great example unfolding for us right now.

The data (let's posit for a minute that I trust the methods of these studies - and I don't) to which you link are explained by one of the articles as suggesting that most of the genetic admixture occurred within a couple of generations prior to the Civil War. Which, again, returns us to the issue of your inferences that this presents a "domestically systemic" matter. To the extent that I can extract any coherence from that phrase, it's hyperbolic. You're talking about sexual assaults that occurred approx. two centuries ago. And, again, the evil of sexual assault is not to be minimized. But there's a good chance that at some point or another, an ancestor of every poster on this thread was (by modern standards) raped/impregnated with limited consent. You obviously carry this psychological chip on your shoulder, so if you find yourself unable to get over this, what do you propose be done?

There is some evidence to suggest that exposure to trauma in one generation may affect gene expression in subsequent generations.

This is a referendum on trump and not surprisingly he has lost. I’m expecting serious dem contenders of all persuasions to sweep in and take over.

All I can say is plan accordingly because that blue wave is gonna screw you every which way to Sunday.

If you are descended from black women raped by slave owning white men, then you are also descended from slave-owning white rapists. Am I missing something here? You can’t direct your anger at those guys because they are long dead. You can’t direct your anger at their descendants because you are their descendants. Terrible things happened but hatred toward innocent white people is misguided.

Uh oh.

Thank you for that eloquent yet pedantic and putative instruction on how I and the rest of my community should feel—can’t tell you how refreshing it is that someone can take a quick glimmer of one of the most profound atrocities of our republic’s history and then just nail it with some hallmark card—ask Eloise pithy aphorism to just get over it—thank you, as we don’t have a sufficient amount of folks outside the black community on how we should feel and and what we should do—top shelf, kudos, job well done.

You again choose to speak for me and my community, not once have I said hate, those are your words and your conflation. My point, is that there has been both serious and numerous scholarship on the impact and ramifications of multi-generational historical trauma. One that can be measured on a variety of both societal and public policy metrics—i.e. it’s not just happy talk.
