Hi everyone,

I took the DAT twice and I got really bad score (17 AA and 18 PAT). Thus, I plan to retake it in September. Yet, I want to send my AADSAS application before that, maybe in August or so, because I know it takes 2-3 weeks for the AADSAS to verify my transcripts and 3-4 more weeks to send it out. So I assume if I wait for my new DAT scores, it'll take forever. In my case, will the AADSAS automatically send the schools my old DAT scores? It'll hurt my application really BAD!

Thank you

I believe you have to send your old scores OR wait for your new scores to come in (ALL previous scores will be included).

I had scores from 2006 and I called the schools I am applying to and some wanted the old scores, some did not.

If you plan to take the DAT late call each school and see if they need the old scores AND that if you send the old scores will they take an initial look at your app.

It's a matter of time and $25/school score request fee.

When you request the ADA to send your DAT scores to dental schools, they will include all attempts from the past 3 years I believe, or the last 4 times you took the DAT. You do not have the option to only send new scores...they will see all of your scores.

Well i know the schools will see all my past scores. But what I'm concerned is that if i send my applications before I retake the DAT, the schools will not see my new scores yet and just look at my old scores and surely will throw my application to the trash 😱. What can I do???

Can you just not enter your old scores? Or is that being "dishonest"? Maybe you can enter your old scores and indicate the date of your future exam. With a good enough GPA, maybe they'll put your application to the side and wait to see your new scores?

when you fill out your application, there's a question asking if you are going to retake the DAT. in your case, put yes. when the schools get your application and see that you're retaking they'll basically consider it not finished, set it aside and wait for the new scores. don't worry about them seeing your old scores, because your application is "incomplete" until the new scores are in. and your app definitely won't end up in the trash. good luck
